TANZANIA – Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL), Diageo’s subsidiary in Tanzania, has appointed David Munene Muriithi as its new Finance Director and member of the executive team effective 1st May 2022.
He takes over the role from Justin Mollel who held the position for over 4 years and has now been transferred to a similar position in SBL’s sister company, Guinness Ghana Breweries PLC.
Justin who has been with the beer maker since 2015 serving at different capacities within the finance docket holds an MBA in Business Administration and Management and BCom in Accounting from the University of Dar es Salaam. He is a Certified Public accountant of Tanzania.
Announcing the appointment of David in the new stint, Mark Ocitti Ongom, Managing Director SBL said, “David is a self-driven, passionate leader with over 5 years’ experience in different finance roles in Diageo.
“He is passionate about growing people and building connected and high performing organizations.”
Prior to this appointment David was Finance director at Meta Abo Breweries Limited, Diageo’s Ethiopian unit recently sold to BGI, where he helped stabilize the control environment and support the business operations in an incredibly difficult Tax, FX and regulatory environment.
He previously held other roles as Group Head of Finance in EABL and Head of Commercial Finance in Kenya.
David started his career with PWC and later BAT East & Central Africa before joining Diageo.
He holds a Bachelor of Business Management and is a Certified Public accountant of Kenya-CPA(K).
In a similar fashion, the brewing giant has undertaken executive reshuffling in the marketing department of two of its subsidiaries.
The multinational alcoholic beverages company has appointed Anitha Msangi Rwehumbiza, as the Marketing Director of SBL.
Anitha’s appointment will take effect from 1st July 2022, taking over the role from Mark Mugisha Kivuna who will be moving to Guinness Nigeria as the new Marketing and Innovations Director.
With the appointment, Anitha is making a comeback to SBL after a short stint of nearly a year at the company’s sister entity, Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL), where she was Head of Customer Marketing.
Meanwhile, Mark Mugisha Kivuna, in his new role as Marketing and Innovations Director at Guinness Nigeria will be in charge of ensuring customers’ needs are satisfied with its existent portfolio through innovations aimed at satisfying evolving tastes.
The range of products including Guinness, Smirnoff, Gordon’s, Orijin, Singleton, Ciroc among others.
