New partnership highlights the full banana lifecycle—from fruit bowl to compost bin.
USA – As National Banana Day approaches on April 16, Dole Food Company, Ninja, and Reencle have teamed up to spotlight the complete lifecycle of bananas with a campaign that blends healthy eating and responsible waste management.
The “Farm-to-Table-to-Garden National Banana Day Sweepstakes” began this week, encouraging fans of the popular fruit to embrace the banana from its fresh form to frozen dessert, and finally, composted peels.
The campaign brings together three companies with a shared goal of reducing food waste while showing how simple and satisfying it can be to enjoy and reuse bananas at home.
“Dole’s goal with this year’s National Banana Week was to share the entire life cycle journey of a simple banana beyond one dimension of peeling and eating by including Ninja and Reencle in a deliciously sustainable collaboration that’s as good for the planet as it is for banana lovers – and I think we’ve succeeded,” said William Goldfield, director of communications at Dole.
At the heart of the campaign is a sweepstakes where participants can win a prize pack worth over $950. The pack includes a one-year supply of DOLE® Bananas, a Ninja Swirl™ by CREAMi® Soft-Serve & Ice Cream Machine, and a Reencle Home Composter.
To enter, shoppers can post a photo of a DOLE® Banana, a Ninja Swirl™ machine, or the Reencle composter on Dole’s social media pages using the hashtag #BananaHaul before noon ET on April 16.
The collaboration also includes a new co-branded webpage (www.Dole.com/bananahaul) that offers free downloads such as banana recipes, videos, and a Dole Whip® Recipe Booklet. There’s also a special collection of 14 official Dole Whip® recipes, most of which include bananas.
Ninja’s CMO Kaitlyn Hebert explained why the project fits with their goals. “Our customers love using the Ninja Swirl™ by CREAMi® to create their own personalized versions of the iconic Dole Whip, so this collaboration was a perfect fit. We’re excited to be able to give banana enthusiasts the tools they need to create quality frozen treats at home while supporting eco-friendly initiatives.”
The companies are also offering a behind-the-scenes look at sustainable treat-making through a live episode of the “Dole Fresh Living” series.
Set to air April 15 at 10am ET on Dole’s Instagram, the show will feature registered dietitian Melanie Marcus and social media expert Rachel Young as they make two banana-based Dole Whips and show viewers how to compost the peels.
Reencle’s marketing lead Sung Ho Park emphasized the simple value of home composting. “Our vision for National Banana Day was similar: enjoy the delicious fruit, transform it into amazing frozen treats, and compost the peels to complete nature’s perfect cycle. We hope this leads to more households discovering the satisfaction of watching banana peels disappear and turn into nutrient-rich compost to grow tomorrow’s produce.”
Dole’s leadership in the fresh produce market continues to be recognized. In the U.S., it was recently named the most trusted brand in Fresh Fruit and Salad Kits at the 2025 BrandSpark Most-Trusted Brand Awards Presented by Newsweek. The award is based on the opinions of over 29,000 American shoppers.
