DENMARK – DowDuPont, a specialty products unit formed by DuPont and Dow Chemical has combined the business divisions Nutrition & Health and Industrial Biosciences to strengthen its efforts in the nutrition and biosciences field.

The newly formed DuPont Nutrition & Biosciences is a US$6.2 billion business with a goal to accelerate science-based approach and innovations in the global market.

It provides a unique product portfolio including specialty food ingredients, dietary supplements, pharma excipients, household and personal care, animal nutrition and biotechnology products.

The new business is set to benefit from complementary expertise and skills in the areas of food enzyme production, human and animal microbiome science, bioprocess engineering and R&D.

The new business structure looks to ensure a more targeted go-to-market strategy, while enhancing growth and innovation in respective markets.

“Both DuPont Nutrition & Health and Industrial Biosciences are known for their innovations and strong scientific approach,” said Nutrition & Biosciences President Matthias Heinzel.

“Combining the two businesses is a step to further accelerate growth and innovation while better providing customers across our industries with innovative, healthy, safe and sustainable solutions.”

DuPont Nutrition & Biosciences will serve customers through three market-driven platforms: Food & Beverage, Health & Bioscience and Pharma Solutions.

According to the company, the business structure provides a distinct positioning in the market to enhance market visibility, insights, customer intimacy and drive overall business growth.

The new Nutrition & Biosciences business will be headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, and led by DuPont Nutrition & Biosciences President Matthias Heinzel.

Heinzel joined DuPont in 2003 as marketing manager for DuPont Imaging Technologies and has served as the president of DuPont Nutrition & Health division since 2015.

With figures combined, the new Nutrition & Biosciences business reported 2018 revenue of $6.2 billion, with over 10,000 employees, 70 manufacturing sites and 25 innovation centers across the globe.
