CHINA – DuPont Nutrition & Biosciences has unveiled plans of entering into a strategic collaboration with BY-Health, a leading consumer health care company in China.

The strategic collaboration would focus generally on research and development of probiotic dietary supplements with “new functions, new ingredients and new technologies.”

DuPont says that the partnership will also include joint research on intestinal microecology and the development of new probiotic dietary supplements and applications for use. 

DuPont is a global leader in probiotics, offering a comprehensive range of solutions under its DuPont™ Danisco® portfolio to support digestive health, immune health among others.

Specifically, its HOWARU® probiotics were recognized with a series of outstanding innovation awards from various industry organizations.

In the Asian market, By-Health ranks among top players in the health food market in terms of sales, revenues and portfolio. Other major player in the category include Amway, Besunyen, Hailisheng Group, Hainan.

According to BCG, Chinese customers are at the top of the world rank to purchase nutrition products, a factor that has catalyzed investments in the sector and market.

As one of the top players in the category, By-Health recently opened a 100 million RMB (US$14 million) Nutrition Exploratorium to provide new solutions to Chinese customers.

In 2018, By-Health also acquired Life-Space Group, one of the leading branded probiotic enterprises in Australia, producing and marketing probiotic products for all life stages. 

BY-HEALTH also established a “collaborative innovation research and development cooperation platform” with the world’s leading research institutions and global raw materials suppliers.

The company partnered with The Rowett Institute University of Aberdeen, The Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research (TNO), Fonterra Co-operative Group, Royal DSM among others.
