ECUADOR – Molinos Miraflores, one of the leading flour millers in Ecuador, has received a new flour mill from Turkish supplier of grain milling and handling system technologies, Alapala.
The new flour mill that boasts of an advanced automation system combined with Scada software was installed at Molinos Miraflores’ greenfield project in Ambato, Ecuador.
Alapala oversaw the entire project which was carried out on a turnkey basis including project design, manufacturing, project management, installation, and commissioning services.
The new flour mill of Miraflores operates with a capacity of 150 tons per day, using hard and semi-hard wheat to produce high-quality bakery and cake flours for domestic distribution.
By enabling centralized monitoring of the entire process from wheat intake to flour packaging, the system provides integrated process control and traceability advantages.
The system also has an advanced report generation ability for production, yield, efficiency, among others that could be used to effectively monitor operations.
Millers at Miraflores will also enjoy real time customer support as the system comes with a remote connection feature that allows Alapala after-sales team to access the mill for technical assistance including inspection, error diagnosis, calibration, and troubleshooting.
The new flow mill also comes equipped with steel silos that have a total grain storage capacity of 4,500 tons, integrated with an intake pit and pre-cleaning system.
Alapala Construction, which specializes in the design, supply, and construction of industrial buildings worldwide, also participated in the project by providing the steel structure supporting the new flour mill
According to a statement from Alapala, the Molinos Miraflores’ mill will be these second turnkey reference project that it has successfully completed in the country.
Completion of the Miraflores turnkey project comes at a time when Alapala is continuing with turnkey projects globally, including modernizations and feed milling facilities across the world in 2021 despite the effects of the pandemic.
The company has delivered 11 other projects among 54 projects in the pipeline in Europe, Africa, Asia, Canada and the Middle East.
Some of the milling companies where Alapala has recently completed turnkey projects include Flour Mills in Morocco and the Namangan Don Maxsulotlari JSC in Uzbekistan.
For Flour Mills Morocco, Alapala installed a new flour mill with capacity of 300 tonnes per day, processing local semi-hard wheat and bakery flour mainly for domestic consumption.
The mill is equipped with the latest Alapala technology consisting of Similago II roller mills (DAVG), Quadro Plansifters with larger sieve boxes (GPAK) and control sifters (RKEM).
An optical sorter is also fitted in the new mill and is used in the plant for very fine cleaning of wheat before milling, to ensure the highest level of food safety is achieved.
