Eos Capital and partners invest in self-sustainable poultry farming in Namibia

NAMIBIA – Eos Capital, in collaboration with Africa Venture Partner Projects (AVPP) and Oyeno Poultry Industries, is making a significant investment in Kadila Poultry Farming through its Euphrates Agri Fund—the sole private equity agriculture fund in Namibia.

This initiative aims to establish a six-house broiler farm located between Windhoek and Okahandja, with an initial capacity to produce 400 tonnes of poultry meat each month.

Oyeno Poultry, a Namibian-owned small and medium enterprise (SME) and the primary sponsor of this venture, has been influential in the country’s poultry sector since 2019.

Namibia’s poultry market currently relies heavily on imports, bringing in between 2,000 to 2,500 tonnes of poultry meat monthly.

Coming in as a saviour, Kadila Poultry’s projected output of 400 tonnes per month in the first phase, with plans to double this in the second phase, represents a crucial move toward reducing this dependency.

AVPP co-founder Anthony Shipoke emphasized the national significance of the Kadila project, highlighting its sustainable approach to uniting various stakeholders to achieve self-sufficient protein production.

He noted, “Namibia consumes more kilograms of poultry per capita than any other land-based protein source, making this project essential for our food security.”

Etuna Hango, Eos Capital’s senior associate and transaction lead, remarked on the importance of decreasing Namibia’s food import reliance.

Hango stated, “As stewards of local retirement savings, Eos Capital has a duty to invest in assets that enhance the nation’s welfare. Our participation in this project is part of our broader commitment to steering Namibia towards self-sufficiency. This agricultural investment is a key step in ensuring a resilient future for our country.”

Paulo Shipoke, the founder of Oyeno Poultry, underscored the central role of agriculture in Namibia’s economy and its capacity to generate employment.
