USA – Eurest, a leading business and industry food service provider, has teamed up with The Plant-It Food Co. to enhance the availability of plant-based protein alternatives in the U.S. non-commercial foodservice sector.
This collaboration aims to promote sustainable food options and support local communities, aligning with Eurest’s commitment to culinary innovation and environmental responsibility.
Suzanne Landry, Eurest’s Vice President of Wellness and Sustainability, emphasized the company’s dedication to sourcing ingredients from like-minded partners.
“Our goal is to introduce nutritious options that benefit both people and the planet, in line with our Food with Purpose wellness and sustainability objectives,” said Landry.
Eurest’s team of chefs and dietitians conducted extensive research and development to incorporate The Plant-It Food Co.’s plant-based chicken into various recipes, expanding menu options across different cuisines.
The versatile product can be prepared in multiple ways, including breaded, crumbled, filleted, or grilled, catering to diverse culinary preferences.
In 2021, Compass Group, Eurest’s parent company, pledged to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, in alignment with the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals.
Eoin Kennedy, Chief Commercial Officer of The Plant-It Food Co., highlighted the significance of this collaboration.
“Partnering with Eurest is a pivotal step for us as an Irish company dedicated to making a positive impact with our plant-based foods,” Kennedy said.
Beyond the dining experience, Eurest and The Plant-It Food Co. are committed to supporting community initiatives through tree planting and reforestation projects.
To date, The Plant-It Food Co. has planted over 5,000 trees in the U.S., including a recent project with Citizens Bank in Johnston, R.I., where volunteers planted 30 trees along the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council Greenway.
