FPS Food Process Solutions expands into Saudi Arabia’s poultry market through Almarai deal

Canada-based food equipment firm has announced plans to install poultry equipment for Almarai in 2025.

SAUDI ARABIA – FPS Food Process Solutions has announced that it is partnering with Almarai Co. Ltd to provide poultry processing equipment for the Saudi Arabian food giant.

Under the agreement, FPS will manufacture and install a Carton Continuous Flow Freezer for boxed whole fresh poultry, with delivery and installation scheduled for 2025.

The freezer system will be used by Almarai, one of the Middle East’s largest producers and distributors of poultry, dairy, juice, and bakery goods.

Almarai’s poultry operations are marketed under its Alyoum brand, which has a strong foothold in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Kuwait.

FPS President Jeffrey Chang confirmed the deal, noting that the company will apply its poultry sector experience to meet Almarai’s operational needs.

The move signals FPS’s plans to expand its footprint in the Gulf region, with Almarai representing a major client in the poultry space.

Gulf poultry companies pursue growth through partnerships

This development comes at a time when several companies in the Middle East poultry sector are pursuing expansion through partnerships and strategic shifts.

In February 2025, Al Watania Poultry signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kantar, a global market research company, during the Gulfood Exhibition held in Dubai.

The partnership focuses on using research, consumer behavior analysis, and market data to refine Al Watania’s business strategy.

Company officials said the initiative is aimed at staying responsive to market shifts and contributing to food supply stability in Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, there have been reports that Al Watania is exploring a sale, with BSF Capital reportedly tasked with assessing its future options.

Al Watania currently produces more than one million chickens and 1.5 million eggs per day, based on information from its official website.

Also in early 2025, Tanmiah Food Company announced a separate MoU with Griffith Foods to expand its regional product offerings and distribution channels.

The collaboration will involve exploring a supply agreement that blends Griffith’s experience in seasonings, coatings, and marinades with Tanmiah’s poultry production network.

This move is part of efforts to align with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which encourages local food production, self-sufficiency, and sustainable practices.

The Tanmiah-Griffith partnership is also expected to support the local market with improved product access and food innovation.

Together, these industry developments show a shifting landscape in the region’s poultry sector, with processors and suppliers seeking new technologies, partnerships, and investments.
