France’s LDC enters talks to acquire Pierre Martinet

FRANCE – LDC, a leading poultry processing company based in France, is in negotiations to acquire Pierre Martinet, a local producer renowned for its salads and tabbouleh.

According to reports, the discussions involve the potential purchase of 100% of Pierre Martinet’s shares, with a finalized agreement anticipated by the end of 2024.

Although specific financial terms have not been disclosed, LDC has indicated that this acquisition aligns seamlessly with its strategic objectives for 2026-2027.

The company aims to enhance its brand portfolio, expand its marketing channels, and fortify its offerings in the catering salads segment.

LDC projects a 70% increase in catering operations, encompassing both private-label products and offerings under its consumer brand Marie, which specializes in fresh and frozen ready meals, pizzas, and ready-to-bake pastry items.

This move underscores LDC’s proactive approach to mergers and acquisitions, as evidenced by its recent discussions to acquire Groupe Routhiau, a family-owned meat producer, and Indykpol, a Polish turkey manufacturer.

Pierre Martinet, with an annual turnover of approximately €230 million (US$249.5M) in 2023, boasts a diverse product portfolio spanning vegan, vegetarian, and meat-based salads, as well as tabbouleh bowls, houmous, and savory pastries.

The company distributes its offerings to retailers across France, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Luxembourg, Germany, and Switzerland.

Additionally, Pierre Martinet owns subsidiaries such as La Belle Henriette, specializing in seafood-based salads, and Maison Randy, known for its charcuterie and baked goods.

Headquartered in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier, France, Pierre Martinet operates five production facilities within the country and has maintained a production branch in Spain since 2007 to cater to the Spanish and Portuguese markets.

Founded by Pierre Martinet in 1968, the company continues to be led by its namesake founder.
