NETHERLANDS – Royal FrieslandCampina, a Dutch multinational dairy cooperative, has taken over activities of Best Cheese Holland, including its brands Parrano and Tjiezi.
According to the company, with the acquisition of dairy dipper activities, including Tjiezi, it capitalises on the growing need for dairy snacks in, among others, Europe, Asia and North America.
The dippers are sold by retailers and international discounters, while the acquired activities will be integrated in FrieslandCampina Consumer Dairy with effect from 15 September 2018.
With this step FrieslandCampina Consumer Dairy added that it wants to respond stronger to the consumer need to use more cheese in cooking and the growing demand for dairy snacks as dippers.
The Parrano brand is famous for its cheese flakes, grated cheese and powder cheese in Italian style and is sold by major Dutch retailers.
Parrano is one of the fastest growing consumer brands in this segment.
“The acquisition of the brand Parrano and the dairy dippers fits in well with our ambition to provide dairy products for all consumption moments.
These brands are a fine addition to our cheese activities,” said Roel van Neerbos, President FrieslandCampina Consumer Dairy.”
“This acquisition allows for further international growth of the products of Parrano and Tjiezi.’
Wilde will remain involved in the activities of Tjiezi after the transaction,” said Paul Wilde, Director of Best Cheese Holland.
FrieslandCampina and Best Cheese added that they have also reached an agreement in principle on the acquisition of the import and sales activities of Best Chees in the United States of America.
This acquisition will take place after agreed conditions had been met, though financial details will not be disclosed.
