The move strengthens Fortifi Food Processing Solutions’ software and AI focus, particularly in Spain’s red meat industry.
DENMARK – Frontmatec Controls, a subsidiary of Fortifi Food Processing Solutions, is integrating Kais Software into its operations.
The company, known for its automation solutions in the food industry, says the acquisition will reinforce its enterprise resource planning (ERP) and manufacturing execution system (MES/MOM) offerings.
Kais Software has a strong presence in Spain, particularly in the red meat sector, and Frontmatec plans to use this expertise to extend its reach in the market.
Fortifi Food Processing Solutions, which owns Frontmatec, has been increasing its investments in software and artificial intelligence to enhance automation and digitalization in food processing.
With Kais joining the group, Frontmatec expects to improve its technology-driven solutions for food processors worldwide.
The announcement follows Danish Crown’s recent adoption of Frontmatec’s Q-FOM™ Beef technology to analyze marbling in beef carcasses at its slaughterhouses in Aalborg and Holsted, Denmark.
The imaging system, which has been under development for several years, assesses intramuscular fat by scanning the right ribs of cows, heifers, and steers.
By using digital imaging instead of trained classifiers, the system provides a standardized and objective marbling evaluation.
Danish Crown Beef has introduced financial incentives for suppliers whose beef meets marbling criteria, with payments reaching up to US$0.22 per kilogram.
The Q-FOM™ Beef technology was initially approved for beef classification in Australia in 2023, where it was used to examine the cut surface between the 10th and 13th ribs.
As part of the FutureBeefCross project, a collaboration between Frontmatec, Danish Crown, SEGES Innovation, and Aarhus University, the technology was refined to assess marbling in the ribeye between the 4th and 6th ribs to meet European classification standards.
With both the acquisition of Kais Software and the deployment of Q-FOM™ Beef, Frontmatec and its parent company Fortifi continue to push forward with automation and AI-driven solutions in the meat industry.
