GHANA – Kasapreko Company Limited, a Ghanaian manufacturer and producer of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, is set to open a new factory under the government’s One district, One factory flagship programme.

Construction of the factory, which is underway, is expected to be completed by June after which equipment installation and production are expected to begin in August this year.

Upon commencement of its operations, the new factory will serve the northern market of the country and for export market and will create about 3,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.

The factory which sits on a 10,000 square metre aims at producing about 85,000 bottles of all brands, which includes Awake purify bottle water, Royal drinks, 10/10 drinks, Super Star and Fancy drink a day.

Mrs Gifty Ohene-Konadu, the National Coordinator for the One district, One factory project, commended Kasapreko for their comprehensive proposal to partner government to promote local industries create jobs and alleviate poverty.

Chief Executive Officer Kasapreko Company Limited, Richard Adjei, lauded the government’s commitment in promoting local industries through its initiative saying that the new factory will complement that in Accra.

“Ghana’s economy can be built and run by ourselves; we have the skills, power and expertise to do it and make the country to succeed,” he added.

He said the location of the subsidiary factory was strategic since it would ease the pressure on the main factory in Accra, adding that Kasapreko had invested more than US$80 million in the expansion and upgrade of the factory in Accra over the years.

The government of Ghana also pledged supporting the company to access a US$20 million Eximbank loan to build the subsidiary state-of-the-art factory.

Kasapreko Company Limited produces alcoholic beverages under the brands Opeimu Bitters, Cocoa liqueur, Tonic Wine, Lime, Cardinal Strawberry, Dry Gin, Kasapreko Brandy and K20 Gin & Whisky and Alomo Bitters.

With over 500 employees, the company has also majored into soft beverage production with Storm Energy Drink, Awake Drinking Water, Royal Drinks, 10/10 and, Veraldo as brands under its non- alcoholic portfolio.

The company supplies its products to Nigeria, South Africa and has opened a plant in Tanzania.
