KENYA- Food delivery platform Glovo has announced the appointment of Daphne Kabeberi as the company’s Impact and Sustainability Lead for Africa. 

Kabeberi will oversee the company’s sustainability agenda in Africa, ensuring climate-centric initiatives and operations meaningfully contribute to the company’s social and environmental agenda. She boasts of years of experience in social welfare and sustainability initiatives. 

She was the Program Lead and Partnership Manager at Tunapenda Institute, where she oversaw training programs to prepare digital workers from marginalized backgrounds. 

Daphne also previously worked for energy management firm Endustrial Support as the Lead Sustainability Engineer, where she successfully oversaw the implementation of ‘Green Key,’ eco-label standards for hotels, which acknowledges adequate strategies for effective water utilization and energy optimization.  

The new sustainability lead welcomed her appointment, reiterating her commitment to championing sustainability in the company. 

Kabeberi said, “I am immensely excited to be on this team, in such a vibrant organization. It’s a privilege to lead efforts that will see Glovo take its place as an Impact & Sustainability pioneer and trendsetter on the African continent.” 

She reiterated the need for strategic partnerships with various stakeholders to deliver the company’s sustainability agenda.  

Kabeberi particularly welcomed the company’s partnership with Swap Station, an energy management farm that will establish a network of solar-powered automated quick interchange battery stations along demand routes and logistics based in Lagos, Nigeria over the next 12 months.  

The new sustainability lead also hailed the company’s sustainability efforts in Kenya and Uganda, where the delivery platform successfully on-boarded new logistics providers with electric vehicles (EVs).  

Daphne reiterated her commitment to oversee the successful implementation of these programs as well as other sustainable strategies in the future that would enhance efficiency and contribute positively to the environment.  

Glovo also welcomed the move, praising her experience and track record in community welfare and climate change initiatives.
