NETHERLANDS – GNT, a global supplier of coloring foods, has introduced its first paprika emulsion to its plant-based EXBERRY color range.

The new addition, EXBERRY Shade Vivid Orange, enables manufacturers to create clean-label orange hues in a wide range of food products.

Made from non-GMO paprika, EXBERRY Shade Vivid Orange is a water-dispersible color with strong color intensity, allowing for cost-effective usage in low quantities.

The emulsion can be applied to various food categories, including confectionery, dairy, baked goods, and plant-based meats.

This color offers an alternative to paprika oleoresin emulsion (E 160c) and Sunset Yellow (E 110), all while ensuring clear and simple ingredient lists.

The product is made using physical processing techniques and does not rely on chemical solvents, making it eligible to be classified as a food ingredient rather than an additive in many regions.

In the European Union and China, it is labeled as “paprika oil,” while in Australia and New Zealand, it is termed “paprika oil emulsion.” In the United States, the product is listed as “paprika (color).”

The new color is available alongside an oil-soluble version for fat-based applications, allowing manufacturers to use it across various product types while maintaining clean ingredient declarations.

GNT’s product manager, Frank Engel, highlighted the increasing demand for cost-effective, high-performance coloring ingredients that offer vibrant orange shades.

Produced in accordance with the company’s sustainability standards, the paprika used to create the emulsion is sourced from contract farmers, ensuring full traceability.

Additionally, earlier this year, GNT announced a partnership with Plume Biotechnology to develop a new plant-based EXBERRY color using fermentation technology.

This collaboration aims to expand GNT’s plant-based color offerings, with production through fermentation allowing for consistent, year-round availability and enhanced functionality.
