NETHERLANDS – GNT Group, one of the global market leaders in food colourings, has launched two new Exberry Coloring Foods available in two formats to enable manufacturers to deliver bright orange shades in a wide range of applications.

Made from paprika and carrot, GNT said that the new products 100% plant-based, halal and kosher, and made without any chemical solvents and “offer a perfect clean-label replacement for artificial colorants as well as additives such as annatto, beta carotene and paprika extract.”

The products are available in powder and oil-dispersible formats. According to the company, Exberry Shade Brilliant Orange powder is oil-soluble and water-dispersible.

GNT explains that the powder format is designed for a broad range of applications including non-aerated confectionery, bakery and savory products.

The oil-dispersible Exberry Shade Brilliant Orange Intense is ideal for compound coatings, spray-coated oil seasonings and other fat-based applications.

“We are delighted to add these new Brilliant Orange products to our range of EXBERRY Coloring Foods. With a liquid format already available, it means we can help manufacturers deliver stunning orange shades for a vast range of food and drink applications,” said Sonja Scheffler, Product Manager at GNT.

The company further highlighted that Exberry Coloring Foods are made from fruit, vegetables and edible plants using only gentle physical methods such as chopping, heating and filtering.

In addition, the new products are pH-independent and offer good light and heat stability as well as a good shelf life.

“They retain the characteristic properties of the source material and the concentrates are not selectively extracted. As a result, they qualify for cleaner and clearer labelling declarations,” the company explained.

Both options will complement GNT’s existing Exberry Brilliant Orange liquid format and add into the brands growing range of color solutions comprising more than 400 shades.

As GNT continues to expand its range of food colours, the company recently made a forecast that ‘Shades of Aqua’ will be the key food & beverage color trend for 2020, with vivid blues and greens set to drive innovation as shoppers seek products that re-connect them with nature.

According to the supplier of Exberry Coloring Food, the demand for Shades of Aqua will also be powered by a quest for holistic wellbeing and demand for new and unique food & beverage experiences that will pop out when shared on social media.

To enable food and beverage companies to harness the appeal of Shades of Aqua, GNT has developed a range of green and blue Exberry Coloring Foods with clean-label appeal.

The company says that they are made from spirulina, an algae that contains phycocyanin, a naturally occurring coloring component and are the perfect replacement for artificial colorants, including brilliant blue and patent blue, and other additives such as copper chlorophyllin.

On the heights of increasing demand, GNT said that shades of Aqua Coloring Foods will be at the heart of its new Love Color with Exberry  initiative for 2020.
