USA- Gopuff, a platform for grocery delivery, has teamed up with Grubhub to expand the delivery of selected items on the app of the meal delivery service.

Through a virtual store on Grubhub’s marketplace, the partnership puts Gopuff, which is backed by SoftBank, in front of millions of Grubhub customers in the United States.

This is essential as food delivery services are trying to reinvent their businesses to keep consumers shopping in the face of rising prices.

The firms added that Gopuff’s logistics will handle its orders placed through the Grubhub app.

The test initiative will start on Tuesday in a few areas in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and Austin.

“We’re excited to partner with Gopuff to give our diners more choice than ever before,” said Ariella Kurshan, senior vice president of growth at Grubhub.

He added that diners now have more options when it comes to ordering fresh food, grocery items, snacks, and alcohol – all from the convenience of the Grubhub app.

Gopuff locations will also be included in Grubhub+, Grubhub’s membership program where members get access to unlimited US$0 delivery fees on eligible orders and exclusive Perks.

The Philadelphia-based firm will launch virtual concepts for diners on Grubhub, including its pizza brand, The Mean Tomato, Gopuff Liquor, and virtual menus for brands including Unilever.

Founded in 2013 by co-founders and co-CEOs Rafael Ilishayev and Yakir Gola, Gopuff created the instant needs category and continues to build the rails that define the future of commerce.

The firm recently launched its new GoStock Equity Programme in UK offering employees the chance to share ownership in the business.

According to an internal memo obtained by Grocery Gazette, 1,400 employees and workers at the grocery delivery service will get stock and ownership interests in the business.

“This is a direct acknowledgment of their continued efforts and underscores Gopuff’s commitment to the UK, a priority market which has experienced significant growth,” the memo said.

“With that, we are implementing the GoStock Equity Program today in the UK. With this new program, our eligible frontline employees and workers will receive equity and an ownership stake of the company,” it added.
