SPAIN – Spanish meat producer, Grupo Hidalgo has successfully acquired a new warehouse facility in Castile-La Mancha, enhancing its capabilities in fresh and processed meats.

Sergio Herrera, Deputy Production Director for Grupo Hidalgo’s Granja Gourmet brand, confirmed the acquisition of the 3,500 square meter plant in an undisclosed financial transaction.

This new facility will be exclusively dedicated to the production of Granja Gourmet processed chicken and turkey products.

In a statement on LinkedIn, Herrera expressed the strategic importance of the warehouse, emphasizing that it will enable the company to offer a more comprehensive service to existing customers and support new projects with increased service capacity.

Granja Gourmet, part of the Iberoelaborados business, was established by Grupo Hidalgo in collaboration with VMR Group in 2014, later fully acquiring it in 2019. VMR Group was subsequently acquired by the Dutch Plukon Food Group in 2020.

The product portfolio of Granja Gourmet encompasses marinated chicken and turkey cuts, grilled and roasted chicken strips, cocktail sausages, chicken and veggie meat patties, ready-to-eat chicken fajita fillings, and frozen turkey cutlets.

Grupo Hidalgo, formed by Castilla Poultry Farms, Poultry Processing Center of Iscar, and Distributions Hidalgo, specializes in processing both uncooked and cooked poultry, turkey, and rabbit products. Additionally, the company owns the fresh chicken brands Abuela Beni and Hidalgo.

The company’s market reach extends to the retail and hospitality industries in the Castile and León and Madrid regions. Grupo Hidalgo’s products are also distributed across Europe, Asia, and Africa.
