INDIA – Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB), the bottling arm of Coca-Cola in India, has inaugurated a Greenfield manufacturing facility at Banda Thimmapur in Siddipet, Telangana.
The factory is built on a 49-acre site and represents a total planned investment of Rs 2,091 crore (US$246.89 million), of which Rs 1,409 crore (US$166.4 million) has already been utilized for the current phase.
The state-of-the-art facility is equipped with seven advanced production lines and is designed to combine cutting-edge manufacturing technology with sustainable practices.
It is expected to create direct and indirect employment opportunities for 410 individuals.
“This state-of-the-art factory combines advanced manufacturing technology with sustainable practices, positioning it as a benchmark in our industry. The proactive efforts of the government have enabled us to overcome challenges and commence operations successfully,” said Juan Pablo Rodriguez, CEO of HCCB.
This marks HCCB’s second factory in Telangana, complementing its existing facility in Ameenpur, Sangareddy District.
Together, the two factories highlight HCCB’s growing investment in the region, with a combined investment of Rs 3,798 crore (US$448.4 million) and employment opportunities for over 1,000 individuals.
Telangana Chief Minister A Reventh Reddy praised the development, saying, “HCCB’s investment in Banda Thimmapur underscores Telangana’s appeal as a hub for global industrial investments. We commend HCCB for its holistic approach, which will bring jobs, uplift communities, and contribute significantly to the region’s development.”
HCCB has been actively engaged in community development programs in Telangana, benefiting over 173,000 individuals. Initiatives include youth skill development, financial and digital literacy for women, and installations of Water ATMs and smartboards in schools.
HCCB’s strong retail network in Telangana, encompassing nearly 180,000 retailers, further underscores its significant contribution to the state’s economy and the FMCG sector in India.
The company reported robust financial performance for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2024, with net profit tripling to Rs 2,808.31 crore (US$332.8 million). Its total income grew by 10.77 percent, while expenses increased by 10.48 percent to US$1.55 billion.
In January, HCCB revived plans to sell its business, with the Jubilant Bhartia Group reportedly eyeing a 40 percent stake in the company.
