IRELAND -Heineken Ireland has secured the Irish distribution rights for Molson Coors’ beer brands, further solidifying its presence in the industry.
This development comes as distribution rights and acquisition speculation intensify across Ireland and the UK.
Prior to this agreement, Heineken Ireland already held the distribution rights for Coors Light, one of Molson Coors’ most recognized brands. This existing partnership had been extended previously.
With the new deal, Heineken Ireland will also distribute other popular Molson Coors brands, including Madri, Carling, Miller, Staropramen, Cobra, and Blue Moon.
Both Heineken Ireland and Molson Coors spokespeople confirmed the agreement, stating, “Heineken Ireland is in the process of engaging with regulatory authorities, and while that is ongoing, and until the process is complete, it is business as usual in both Heineken Ireland and Molson Coors Ireland.”
This strategic move by Heineken Ireland follows several significant deals within the drinks market in the UK and Ireland. Recently, the Carlsberg and Britvic deal has contributed to increasing speculation about other major players.
Engine Capital, which holds just under 5 percent of C&C Group, has called for the company’s sale.
In a letter to the board, Engine Capital described C&C Group as “a perennial underperformer” and urged a review of strategic alternatives aimed at a sale.
C&C Group, based in Dublin, manufactures brands like Tennent’s lager and ciders Magners and Bulmers.
Molson Coors Beverage Company, a publicly traded entity on the New York and Canadian Stock Exchange (TAP), operates through Molson Coors North America and Molson Coors Europe.
Its extensive portfolio includes brands such as Coors Light, Miller Lite, Molson Canadian, and Peroni.
In a recent marketing move, Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0% announced its first global brand ambassador, world-famous racing driver Charles Leclerc.
“Charles Leclerc is a celebrity powerhouse both on and off the racetrack,” said Cara Lauritzen, senior marketing manager for Peroni brands.
“This partnership with Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0% will showcase how he interacts with the brand when he gets some much-needed time to relax.”
