MEXICO- Candy producer Hershey Co. will spend US$90 m to construct two new manufacturing lines in a Mexican plant in the northern border state of Nuevo Leon.

Upon completion of the expansion, the plant’s output will increase by 25%, according to a state press statement released following activity at the plant.

The investment will also create 300 new employees in addition to the 2,500 people presently working at the company.

“With this investment, we are likely to go from fourth place to third among Hershey’s largest plants,” Nuevo Leon Governor Samuel Garcia said.

Meanwhile, last month the company appointed Marlene Creighton as global chief sales officer beginning September 5, 2022.

Marlene brings more than 20 years of CPG experience working across sales, category management, and brands with P&G, Unilever, and now Hershey.

Throughout her career, she has a track record of building winning partnerships inside and outside of the company with retail partners and community organizations.

Phil Stanley, who was in the position and has spent 26 years with Hershey, will leave the business to explore his next opportunity.
