USA- Hersey Company, an American multinational company and one of the largest chocolate manufacturers in the world, has named Deepak Bhatia, as its new Chief Technological Officer, effective October 23.
Deepak’s appointment comes at a time when Hersey Company is gearing up to advance its technological strategy through innovation as it aims to meet the changing needs of its customers, retail partners, and employees.
Bhatia is a former vice president of Supply Chain Optimization Technologies at Amazon, an American multinational technology company known for its e-commerce and cloud computing capabilities.
He holds an M.S. in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University and an M.S. in Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineering from Purdue University.
With over two decades in the industry, he brings onboard a wealth of experience not limited to developing cutting-edge automated systems, supply chain planning, optimization and simulation, artificial intelligence and predictive analytics.
While welcoming Bhatia, Michele Buck, The Hershey Company President and Chief Executive Officer emphasized the need to invest in human capital and digital capabilities to strengthen their supply chain and business units.
“As we continue to double down in this area, Deepak has the expertise needed to successfully lead our technology strategy leveraging end-to-end data, analytics, and automation to elevate our employee experience, create commercial value and advance our leading snacking powerhouse vision.” He added.
Bhatia led the development of large-scale automated decision-making systems during his 12-year tenure at Amazon in supply chain optimization.
He is recognized for solving some of the most computational and mathematical challenges occasioned at Amazon, and bringing applied science, software engineering, and product management together.
Before joining Amazon, Bhatia spent 11 years at Applied Materials, where, apart from supply chain optimization, he capitalized on building expertise in predictive business analytics to inform product management and innovation strategies.
