NETHERLANDS – IMCD, one of the leading distributors of speciality chemicals and food ingredients, is has opened its new offices in Dubai to complement its operations in Egypt and support its expansion in the Middle East.
IMCD first entered the Middle East region by opening an office in Cairo, Egypt in 2018. The Dutch ingredients supplier says that the new office in Dubai will be instrumental in scaling up its operations in the Middle East.
From the new office, IMCD notes that it will now be coordinating operations in the Gulf region, extending its services to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Omanas well as Jordan.
“The Middle East has always been an attractive market for IMCD and we are excited to expand our presence in this region,” said Frank Schneider, Business Group Director Coatings &Construction and Executive Committee Member of IMCD.
“Throughout our operations around the globe, IMCD’s main focus has been to help our suppliers grow their business and to provide our customers the technical advice and formulatory support they need to create market leading and innovative products.
“Our principals in the Middle East needed a partner with these capabilities, and from this new office in Dubai, we will be able to provide them, as well as our customers, solutions that help them innovate and grow,”
Schneider believes that the Middle East region has an extraordinary growth potential for IMCD.
“Besides strengthening our market position in the Middle East, we will continue to develop our product know-how and invest in expanding our technical expertise,” Schneider said.
IMCD has appointed Manuel Baumann as Managing Director for the Middle East region to support and drive the region’s growth strategy. Manuel has extensive experience in the Middle East and South Asia.
IMCD’s new office in Dubai will serve the food & nutrition industry as well as other all business groups including in pharmaceuticals, coatings & construction and advanced Materials.
The company stated that Dubai’s strategic position and established international infrastructure also makes it the ideal location for the regional IMCD Middle East hub, supporting its expanding presence in the Middle East and overseeing all management and service related activities.
The establishment of a new office in Dubai follows IMCD’s previous announcement in January this year that it has complete the acquisition of Israeli distributor specialty chemical ingredients, Zifroni Chemical Suppliers Limited.
In the first the months of 2020, the company’s operating segment in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) reported a revenue of EUR 361.7 million, representing a 3% growth compared to the same period of 2019.
The groups total revue in the first quarter rose 6% to EUR 748.8 million. The EMEA business segment is IMCD’s largest market by revenue.
