USA – Incredo, a pioneering food tech company specializing in sugar reduction, has announced a significant manufacturing and commercial distribution agreement with Sucro Limited, a North American cane sugar market solutions provider.
This partnership will see Incredo Sugar, a sugar-based reduction solution, manufactured at Sucro’s plant in Buffalo, New York, and added to Sucro’s portfolio starting this month.
This collaboration aims to cater to the growing demand for reduced sugar products across the Americas.
Sucro has noted a “significant shift” among consumers away from sugar alcohols and artificial sweeteners, positioning Incredo Sugar as a timely addition to its offerings.
“Sweetlife by Sucro is now our exclusive distribution partner in the US. Their focus on innovative products makes them a great partner,” stated Sucro.
Incredo Sugar, made from real cane sugar, promises the same sweet taste with up to 50% less sugar without the use of sugar alcohols.
As health and nutrition remain a priority for consumers, particularly in the U.S., Incredo Sugar provides food manufacturers and consumer packaged goods (CPGs) companies with an effective solution to reduce sugar content while maintaining flavor.
Matt Dyer, managing director of SweetLife by Sucro said, “This also supports Sucro’s new refinery construction in University Park, Ill., in meeting increased market demand for more value-added specialty products. We are thrilled to partner with Incredo for the manufacturing and distribution of Incredo Sugar in the US.”
Incredo highlighted the critical need for improved confectionery solutions, citing recent findings that 47 percent of American adults are actively seeking healthier confectionery options, and 70 percent are looking to incorporate more low-sugar products into their diets.
The move away from artificial sweeteners is supported by research from the WHO linking these substances to health risks such as blood clotting, stroke, and even death, as well as gastrointestinal issues associated with sugar alcohols.
Kelly Thompson, co-chief executive officer of Incredo, emphasized the readiness to meet this growing demand.
“We are prepared to meet the growing consumer demand for lower sugar products with our commercial-ready solution. Our collaboration with Sucro will allow us to distribute Incredo Sugar to an array of new customers seeking innovative ways to reduce sugar,” Thompson said.
Incredo, co-founded in 2014 by Eran Baniel and Avraham Baniel, utilizes silica as a tasteless, odorless, and calorie-free carrier for sugar molecules.
The sucrose molecules surround and coat the silica particles, forming structures that human taste receptors perceive to be sweeter than an equivalent amount of unassociated sugar, enabling sugar reductions of 30-70 percent.
