INDIA – The Indian Beverage Association (IBA), the apex body representing India’s non-alcoholic beverage industry, has appointed Dr Dharmendra Singh Gangwar, IAS (Retd), as its new Secretary General.
Gangwar succeeds JP Meena, who served in the role for four years and played a key role in strengthening the association’s industry representation and policy advocacy.
Gangwar brings over 35 years of leadership experience in public administration, policy formulation, and governance across various government ministries and public sector enterprises.
He has held significant positions in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, and Ministry of Rural Development.
His expertise spans public finance management, industrial promotion, and regulatory frameworks, making him well-suited to lead the IBA in its mission to drive industry growth.
IBA Chairman, SR Goenka, expressed confidence in Gangwar’s leadership, stating, “We are delighted to welcome Gangwar to IBA. The Indian non-alcoholic beverage industry is at an inflection point, and we have an opportunity to strategically steer it towards growth.
Gangwar’s extensive leadership experience, strategic vision, and deep understanding of policy implementation will be invaluable in strengthening the representation of the industry.”
During his tenure in government, Gangwar contributed to major national initiatives, including overseeing the financial aspects of India’s COVID-19 response, leading the execution of World Food India, and improving public service delivery mechanisms in Bihar.
His expertise in infrastructure development, corporate governance, and regulatory policy will be instrumental in advancing IBA’s objectives.
Upon his appointment, Dr Gangwar said, “I am honoured to take on this role as the Chief Executive Officer of the Indian Beverage Association. The non-alcoholic beverage industry plays a crucial role in India’s economy and has the potential to make India a global beverage processing hub. I look forward to working with all stakeholders to achieve steady growth through policy advocacy, innovation, and collaboration.”
Founded in 2010, the IBA serves as a vital link between the industry, government, and the public, providing a unified perspective on legislative, regulatory, and policy matters.
It also acts as a platform for knowledge-sharing and industry best practices.
