India’s Goli soda gains global traction amid strategic expansion

Goli Soda’s revival through innovative rebranding and strategic exports is driving strong demand in global markets, competing with international giants.

INDIA – India’s traditional beverage, Goli Soda, is experiencing a resurgence in key international markets, including the US, UK, Europe, and the Gulf, driven by strategic expansion and innovative reinvention.

Under a partnership with Fair Exports, India has secured consistent deliveries of Goli Soda—rebranded as Goli Pop Soda—to Lulu Hypermarket, one of the largest retail chains in the Gulf, according to the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).

Once a staple in Indian households, Goli Soda had nearly vanished due to the dominance of multinational beverage companies. However, its revival marks a significant step in India’s push to promote and export homegrown food and beverage products globally.

A key aspect of Goli Pop Soda’s appeal is its innovative packaging, featuring a unique pop opener that recreates the nostalgic fizzy burst Indian consumers fondly remember. This rebranding has captivated global markets, making the drink a trendy and exciting choice for international consumers.

The growing demand underscores the potential for Indian flavors to compete with global beverage brands, opening new opportunities for domestic exports.

India’s push for global beverage market penetration also extends beyond Goli Soda. Reliance Consumer Products Ltd (RCPL) has recently entered the UAE market by partnering with Agthia Group to launch its soft drink brand, Campa Cola.

Since its reintroduction in India in 2023, the brand has disrupted the domestic beverage industry and now aims to establish a strong presence in the UAE’s competitive soft drink sector.

The initial Campa Cola portfolio in the UAE includes Campa Cola, Campa Lemon, Campa Orange, and Cola Zero.

Meanwhile, Varun Beverages Limited (VBL) has commenced commercial production of carbonated soft drinks and packaged drinking water at its new facility in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh.

The unit is expected to meet rising demand during the summer and optimize distribution logistics in Himachal Pradesh and neighboring states.
