NIGERIA – Nigeria based International Breweries Plc has appointed Mr. Andrew Scott Murray as a Non-Executive Director of the company.
In a company statement, the company indicated that Mr. Murray is currently the Vice-President, Finance for AB InBev Africa, leading the finance function across the AB InBev Africa operations, based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
He was the Global Director AB InBev M&A based in New York with exceptional track record of handling transactions and corporate disposals of different description and magnitude. He was also part of the AB InBev’s focused group on Budgeting and Business Performance Optimization.
Prior to joining AB InBev in 2013, Andrew worked at Bain & Company, a global management consulting firm for approximately 7 years.
He holds a BA in Mathematics and Economics from Williams College and an MBA from The Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern University).
International Breweries, the maker of Trophy Lager, is a leading Nigerian brewer which was incorporated in 1971.
The company reported a net loss of US$19.53 million (N7.1 billion) for the first nine months of 2018.
Revenue for the period grew 128% to US$228 million from US$100 million in the prior year.
The company pinned the underperformance on increased expenses and higher finance costs which rose 187% to US$25.31 million.
Two months ago, International Breweries commissioned a new US$250 million brewery in Sagamu, Ogun State, a facility it said was the fourth in the country.
AB InBev consolidated its business stakes in Pabod Breweries Limited, Intafact Beverages Limited into its majority ownership of IB Plc in a merger that was concluded in December 2017.
In the same year, the company announced the appointment of Mr. Sunday Akintoye Omole as its new Board Chairman.
Its major National brands are Trophy lager, Hero lager, Betamalt, Grandmalt, Castle lite and the premium brand Budweiser.
