NIGERIA – As a demonstration of confidence in the Nigerian economy, part of efforts to respond to growing demand, and strategy to deepen its market share, Sona Agro Allied Foods, a leading manufacturer of biscuits, cream wafer, seasoned puff corn, multi cereal bars in Nigeria, recently boosted its biscuits production capacity with the installation of a new soft and hard biscuits production lines from Europe.

The company says it is pleased with the high demand it has seen for its quality products over the past few years, pointing out that the demand which keeps increasing year after year has necessitated the expansion of the lines and hopes that with this development, it will also be increasing its product variety for consumers.

“Our investment in this factory and the continuous upgrading of equipment and expansion of production facilities is a vote of confidence in the Nigerian economy,” Subramanian Murugesan, the company’s managing director, said at the unveiling of the new production lines at their factory in Ota, Ogun State recently.

Murugesan believes that there is huge market for their products, saying that they are already planning for future expansion in other products portfolio also as they see Nigeria as the export hub of products to other parts of Africa in future while they are quite focused on their vision of producing top quality products for the world from Nigeria.

He announced that with the newly installed lines, his firm would expand its offerings in the fast-growing snack segment by introducing more range of hard dough biscuits varieties, including favourites like Sona Rich Tea, crackers, Sona Marie etc.

He added that the new offering would complement the existing soft dough biscuits which the company had launched like Sona Aktive, Malty, Snowy, Digestives and wafer biscuits with vanilla cream, in addition to the varieties of cheese and chicken seasoned puff corn, corny multi cereal bar which are also in Nigerian market.

The MD disclosed that the company currently has about 212 distributors across Nigeria with three depots in Abuja, Kaduna and Port Harcourt in its supply chain which ensure that products are available all over the country.
