IPM ESSEN 2025 opens doors to global horticultural excellence

GERMANY – IPM ESSEN 2025, a leading global horticultural trade fair, has kicked off in Essen, Germany, attracting thousands of professionals from the green sector.

Running from January 28 to January 31, this event offers a platform for industry leaders to present innovative products, exchange ideas, and explore new opportunities.

This year, the trade fair boasts an impressive lineup of over 1,434 exhibitors from 46 countries. Spread across approximately 100,000 square meters of exhibition space in ten halls, the event provides a dynamic setting for showcasing advancements in plants, technology, floristry, and garden features.

IPM ESSEN 2025 highlights an array of groundbreaking products designed to meet the evolving demands of the horticultural industry.

Among the standout innovations are Valoya lights, biodegradable grow bags from CoirMedia, and the highly anticipated Paper Pot 2.0 machine. These products emphasize sustainability, efficiency, and technological advancement, reflecting the sector’s commitment to addressing contemporary challenges.

“We are thrilled to introduce our biodegradable grow bags, which offer an eco-friendly solution for modern horticulture,” said a representative from CoirMedia. “Our goal is to provide sustainable alternatives that meet industry needs while reducing environmental impact.”

The vibrant atmosphere at the fair underscores its importance as a hub for networking and collaboration. Attendees engage in discussions, forge connections, and explore the latest trends shaping the industry’s future.

Spotlight on sustainability and global participation

Sustainability remains a central theme at IPM ESSEN 2025. Following the success of last year’s 40th-anniversary event, which emphasized climate-resilient plants and resource-efficient production, this year’s fair continues to prioritize eco-conscious solutions.

Biodegradable materials for packaging and plant pots, alongside advancements in automation and artificial intelligence, reflect the industry’s proactive approach to sustainability.

African and Middle Eastern exhibitors also play a significant role in the fair. Companies from Kenya, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates, and Israel are showcasing their offerings, highlighting the global nature of the event.

Notable participants include Oserian Development Company and Sian Roses from Kenya, and Afriflora Sher from Ethiopia. From the Middle East, Gulf Agriculture and Hishtil Afula (1989) Ltd. stand out with their diverse range of horticultural products.

“Our participation at IPM ESSEN 2025 provides a unique opportunity to connect with international buyers and showcase our latest innovations,” said a representative from Oserian Development Company. “We look forward to strengthening partnerships and expanding our reach.”

The previous edition of IPM ESSEN, held in 2024, demonstrated the industry’s resilience and innovation despite challenges such as a nationwide rail strike.

Approximately 36,000 trade visitors attended, with 30% placing orders during the event. Over 60% planned future purchases based on the information gathered at the fair.
