US – Jones Soda, one of the leading beverage manufacturers in the United States has appointed David Knight as the company’s president and CEO, effective 23 June 2023.

David Knight who is the current CEO and co-founder of SX Latin Liquors and “chief beverage officer” for CFH, will succeed Mark Murray who will remain on the board as a director after he retires from his role as chief executive officer.

“David brings to us over 37 years of global marketing, sales and corporate communications experience with some of the world’s premier food and beverage companies,” Jones’ chairman Paul Norman said in a release.

“The board feels that his successful track record of growing and managing dynamic and youthful brands makes David the perfect person to lead Jones as the company works to continue to build on the significant progress Mark Murray has made as our CEO over the past few years.”

In addition, Knight has previously served as VP of marketing for Gatorade International and VP of marketing Asia Pacific for Quaker Oats.

Norman also noted that Mark Murray has been an integral part of Jones’ significant revenue growth over the last few years and the successful execution of the company’s three-year strategic turnaround plan.

“We feel that his dedication and leadership have well positioned Jones for continued growth moving forward and look forward to his continued contribution to the company as a member of the board.”

Norman highlighted that Mark was instrumental in the company’s successful entry into the cannabis market with the launch of the company’s Mary Jones brand of cannabis products.

According to David, Jones Soda has recently entered cannabis with the launch of Mary Jones, a collection of cannabis-infused sodas, syrups and gummies.

He noted that the company is adding new flavours to the line and planning expansions in Washington, Michigan and Nevada.

“As a leading craft soda manufacturer with a growing line of cannabis products, I am excited about the opportunity to lead Jones,” Knight said. “Jones is well-positioned for continued growth.”

During 2022, revenue at Jones Soda increased 29% to $19.1 million compared to $14.8 million a year earlier. Its net loss increased to $1.6 million from $1.3 million, largely due to higher expenses related to the development and marketing of Mary Jones.

Last month Jones Soda announced that Ronald Dissinger was appointed by the Company’s board of directors to serve as a director on the Board until the Company’s next annual meeting of stockholders.

Ron who is a global financial executive joined the Board and assured that his extensive background in accounting and finance will provide the Board with a valuable resource as we continue to focus on growth and diversification of our business
