USA – Kappa Bioscience, the leading manufacturer of Vitamin K2 under the brand name K2VITAL, has appointed Rena Cohen-First as its new Vice President of Sales North America.  

Cohen-First’s appointment follows the opening of a Kappa Bioscience office in New Jersey in 2021 and is meant to bolster its sales cabilities.

“The new position solidifies the company’s strategic commitment to meeting the growing demand for an agile and customer-focused vitamin K2 supplier in the United States,” Kappa Biosciences said. 

Cohen-First joins the company from OmniActive Health Technologies, where she was Vice President of Sales for the Western Region.  

Having worked with leading multinational brands, Cohen-First brings 25 years of experience in the food, beverage, and supplement industries and invaluable behind-the-scenes market knowledge. 

“Kappa is a remarkable leader, truly pushing the tipping point of K2’s global impact on health and wellness,” Cohen-First said. 

“I’m excited to work with our partners to help bring this awareness to North American consumers.” 

Kappa Bioscience’s roadmap to growth in the U.S. has been developed to keep bringing value to new and potential customers in the region. 

 It includes establishing a production site on the East Coast and the hiring of sales managers in all key regions to enable it to be physically and culturally close to the territory.

“It will help us support our distributor AIDP better and communicate directly with our customers.” 

Lately, Kappa has formed its Scientific and Medical Advisory Board, including top-class experts from the U.S., to maintain its leadership position in the K2 sector. 

Some of the members of the board include Dr. John Ivy, Dr. Susanne Talcott, and Dr. Nathan Wong.  

Dr. Ivy is the Teresa Lozano Long Endowed Chair Emeritus at the University of Texas at Austin while Dr. Talcott, is an Associate Professor Texas A&M University, Food Science & Technology, Molecular Researcher. 

 Dr. Wong, is a cardiovascular epidemiologist, a specialist in preventive cardiology, and Professor and Director, Heart Disease Prevention Program, Division of Cardiology at the University of California. 

In addition, Kappa Bioscience maintains a research partnership with the University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio, to investigate the relationship between vitamin K deficiency and the immune system.
