USA – Morningstar Farms, Kellogg’s division that produces vegetarian food has announced that it strives to convert its entire portfolio to be 100% plant-based by 2021.

This further reinforces the firm’s commitment to increasing its vegan and plant-based offering to health-conscious and environmental-sensitive consumers.

According to the company, the move will help reduce the use of over 300 million egg whites annually and used in products distributed in restaurants, schools, colleges, universities and hospitals.

Thus, all MorningStar Farms range including Spicy Black Bean Burger and the Breakfast Sausage Patties will be 100% plant-based by 2021.

Kellogg revealed that about 50% of the portfolio has already been transitioned and by 2019, this will increase to about 65%.

This will involve the entire MorningStar Farms portfolio including all Chick’n nuggets and patties, and the Meat Lovers, Veggie Lovers, Falafel and Tex-Mex burgers.

“This is a very exciting opportunity for us – by making this change, MorningStar Farms favorites can be enjoyed by even more people at home and on-the-go who strive to add plant-based proteins to their plate,” said Mel Cash, Head of Global Marketing, Plant Based Protein at Kellogg Company.

“This will also help us further our commitment to a greener world by helping to reduce the water waste, land usage, and carbon emissions associated with egg production.”
