USA – Kemin Industries has announced the appointment of Dr. Y. Joy Zhong as the new Director of Research and Development for its Food Technologies business unit in North America. 

 Zhong, who will oversee research, product development, and formulation from inception to commercialization, brings over a decade of experience in the food industry. 

She joins Kemin from The Every Co., where she served as Director of New Product Development.  

Her prior roles include Senior Application Scientist and Project Manager at DuPont Nutrition & Health, and technical leadership positions at Corbion and Cargill.  

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science and Engineering from Hunan Agricultural University and a master’s and doctoral degree in Food Science with a focus on Food Chemistry from Memorial University of Newfoundland. 

Marc Scantlin, President of Kemin Food Technologies – North America, highlighted Dr. Zhong’s extensive background and expertise, stating, “With over a decade of experience in the food industry, her background in food chemistry, expertise in various food ingredients, and leadership in product development, Dr. Zhong is ideal to lead R&D efforts and aid in accelerating market growth and innovation for Kemin and our customers.” 

Kemin acquires Archangel Inc. 

This announcement follows Kemin’s recent acquisition of Archangel Inc., a company specializing in antimicrobial solutions for biofuel production.  

Founded in 2015, Archangel has developed advanced bacterial control solutions, including products such as NOVA EZL and NOVA EZP, which will enhance Kemin’s offerings in bacterial control for biofuel production. 

The acquisition also includes four full patent applications from Archangel, expanding Kemin’s capabilities in the biofuels sector.
