Kenya Breweries Limited reduces mainstream spirits prices ahead of festive season

KENYA – Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL), part of East African Breweries Ltd (EABL), has announced a reduction in the prices of its mainstream spirits portfolio in a bid to offer more affordable options for consumers during the upcoming festive season.

The price cuts affect popular brands, including Chrome Gin, Chrome Vodka, Kane Extra, and Triple Ace Vodka, in both 750ml and 250ml bottle sizes.

Under the new pricing, a 750ml bottle of Chrome Gin will retail at Kes 700 (US$5.41), reduced from Kes 760 (US$5.87), while Chrome Vodka is now priced at Kes 700 (US$5.41), down from Kes 740 (US$5.71). Kane Extra and Triple Ace Vodka will sell for Kes 680 (US$5.25), reduced from Kes 720 (US$5.56) and Kes 690 (US$5.33), respectively.

For the smaller 250ml packs, Chrome Gin and Chrome Vodka are now priced at Kes 260, down from Kes 290, while Kane Extra and Triple Ace Vodka have been reduced to Kes 240 from Kes 260.

KBL’s MSS Portfolio Manager, Lilian Mbugua, highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting consumers during challenging economic times.

“We aim to ensure our high-quality products remain accessible to consumers, particularly during the holiday season,” she said.

The initiative aligns with KBL’s ongoing brand activation efforts, such as Chrome’s Street Filosofia Honour the Streets campaign, which celebrates Kenya’s urban culture and reflects the brand’s commitment to understanding and addressing consumer needs.

This strategic move follows a strong financial year for EABL, which recorded a 13 percent increase in net sales, reaching Kes 124.1 billion in the 2023/24 financial year.

Spirits, alongside beer, were key contributors to this growth, with spirits reporting an 11 percent rise in net sales.

By reducing prices, KBL aims to strengthen its market presence while offering consumers quality spirits at more affordable prices during the festive period.
