IRELAND – Kerry Foods, a leading Irish food company, has announced the expansion of its Fridge Raiders Chicken Bites range, with the addition of two new limited-edition flavours.

The new Chicken and Stuffing flavour is a festive take on Fridge Raiders’ popular Chicken Bites, providing the classic sage and onion stuffing taste in a handy on-the-go packet.

The new flavour, marking the first time Fridge Raiders ventures into the festive season category, will be exclusively available in Tesco Express as part of its food to go range.

The brand is also expanding its Fridge Raiders ‘World Flavours’ range, with a new Caribbean Jerk Chicken flavour which was picked following extensive consumer testing.

Kerry says the Caribbean Jerk Chicken flavour is currently available at Asda.

The launch comes after the success of the Katsu flavour Chicken Bites that launched earlier this year, which helped drive growth of 24% across the Fridge Raiders range.

Chicken Katsu was the first in a series of new flavours that form part of the brand’s World Flavours range, initially launching exclusively with Asda.

The launch responded to increasing consumer demand for Katsu flavoured products, with the flavour seeing a huge surge in popularity in the UK – 300% growth over the last five years.

Within the ready meals category alone, Chicken Katsu is worth £16.9m RSV (about US 21.86 million) – demonstrating a huge opportunity for retailers to tap into.

There has been a clear rise in healthier snacking choices in recent times, with 44% of adults and 56% of 16-34-year olds viewing snacks as a good way to boost their nutritional intake.

“With our shoppers continuing to look for variety in protein snacks, we are confident that both our festive Chicken and Stuffing, and our ‘World Flavours’ Caribbean Jerk Chicken flavours will be crowd pleasers,” Beth George, Brand Manager of Fridge Raiders, said.

George further noted that Fridge Raiders is committed to championing snacking moments through investment in flavour innovation and delivering great tasting, high quality snacks throughout the year.

“We’re sure both of these limited-edition flavours will fly off the shelves!”
