AUSTRALIA- Fast food giant KFC has launched the first-ever holiday-themed accommodation, Colonel Lodge, in Australia as part of its brand promotion strategy.
The Colonel Lodge will be located in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales (NSW). According to the company, the holiday-themed accommodation is part of the company’s Christmas in July celebrations.
The new lodge will offer customers an opportunity to win a getaway by spending a minimum of AU$30 (US$20) in the KFC app starting in July. The promotion has no restriction on the number of entries and, therefore, encourages frequent use of the app.
The lodge will offer an unlimited supply of KFC’s Christmas menu and a lodge butler as part of the promotion package to winners.
The launch was revealed at a time when the fast food industry is facing demand and pricing challenges owing to high inflation. As inflation causes a reduction in disposable income, customers are becoming more frugal with their spending, which has led to a decline in demand.
Players in the fast food sector are scrambling for the dwindling customer base, employing promotional and value package tactics to appeal to customers’ price sensitivity,
The company also revealed the lodge’s launch coincides with the revival of the Christmas in July feast, set to offer favorites like Wicked Wings, Nuggets and Original Recipe Chicken. The fast food giant also revealed it will also give out merchandise as part of this promotional strategy. The company also revealed sales proceeds will go to the KFC Youth Foundation and its charity partners Black Dog Institute and ReachOut Australia.
The company has lauded the move, reiterating it will offer value to customers through unique experiences.
Tami Cunningham, KFC Australia’s Chief Marketing Officer said, “Creating unique experiences with KFC at the heart is something we love to do for our customers. Each year, we look forward to helping our fans celebrate the Christmas in July occasion with good food, good people, and good times, and we’re thrilled to be bringing the Colonel’s Lodge to life and offering fans a fresh and fun opportunity to enjoy KFC.”
