CANADA – Marine technology heavyweight Kraken Robotics Inc. has recently strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Nathaniel Spencer as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Erica Kierstead as marketing director. 

Spencer brings over 12 years of extensive experience in the marine sector, notably serving as Vice President of Service Delivery at PanGeo Subsea before its acquisition by Kraken in August 2021. 

His tenure includes founding and subsequently selling a subsea inspection business to Oceaneering in 2016, followed by 18 months as Managing Director of Kraken’s subsea power division.

In a parallel move, Erica Kierstead has joined Kraken as the new Director of Global Marketing. 

Kierstead brings a decade of experience in ocean technology and defense industries, focusing recently on AI and Bluetech sectors. 

Her background includes a significant role in marketing and communications at MITRE for the past two years, underscoring her strategic approach to advancing Kraken’s market presence.

Greg Reid, President and CEO of Kraken, expressed confidence in the company’s enhanced leadership structure, which now includes key executives Joe MacKay (CFO), Dave Shea (CTO), and Lynne Adu (CCO). 

Reid highlighted their collective readiness to manage substantial organic growth and integrate strategic acquisitions aimed at bolstering technology, expanding customer base, and driving profitability.

Kraken Robotics Inc., headquartered in Canada with operational bases across North and South America and Europe, specializes in advanced marine technology solutions. 

The company is renowned for its complex subsea sensors, batteries, and robotic systems, which enable high-resolution 3D acoustic imaging crucial for overcoming challenges in ocean exploration and operations—promoting safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

Peter A. Hunter, founder and Managing Partner of Artemis Capital Partners, L.P., recently assumed the role of Chairman of Kraken’s Board of Directors in late April.
