Kronen introduces new advanced cabbage cutting and washing machines

GERMANY – Kronen GmbH has unveiled its latest innovations in food processing machinery, the CAP 350 cabbage cutting machine and the HEWA 4000 washing machine, at the Fruit Logistica trade show.

The CAP 350 is designed to handle whole cabbage heads with high efficiency. It can process up to 5,000 kg per hour, ensuring precise cutting for red and white cabbages with diameters of up to 350 mm.

Compared to its predecessor, the CAP 68, this upgraded model accommodates larger cabbage heads and delivers increased processing capabilities.

Its design prioritizes ease of use and safety, featuring a wide feeding hopper for continuous operation.

Angled blades and a specialized infeed system help stabilize the cabbages, reducing uncontrolled movement. Additionally, a variety of cutting disks are available to meet different size requirements.

“We were delighted to welcome visitors from 50 different countries, and we are extremely pleased that our new and established solutions sparked such strong interest among international trade representatives,” said Stephan Zillgith, Managing Director of Kronen.

The HEWA 4000 washing machine is built for high-capacity washing and sanitation of fruits, vegetables, and salad leaves.

It can be used for both whole and cut products, making it versatile for various food processing needs. The system integrates pre-washing, washing, disinfection, and treatment in a continuous process.

The wash tank can be filled either manually or automatically through an infeed belt. Products are moved through the washing cycle by a spiral water system, with adjustable flow rates to accommodate different items.

After washing, the produce is transported via a belt or vibration system while being rinsed with fresh water. A filtration system recycles water, making the machine more efficient.

The HEWA 4000 is compatible with multiple food items, including lettuce, vegetables, herbs, fruits, and other leafy products. Its flexible design allows it to be placed downstream of a cutting machine, bridging low-care and high-care processing areas.

The demand for automated food processing solutions continues to rise. According to market research by Statista, the industrial automation sector is projected to grow significantly, with its market size expected to increase from US$159 billion in 2020 to US$214 billion by 2025.

Automation is also addressing labor shortages in the industry. A survey conducted by the Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies (PMMI) revealed that 88% of respondents found automation effective in reducing labor requirements.

With solutions like the CAP 350 and HEWA 4000, Kronen is contributing to this shift, providing efficient and reliable machinery to enhance food processing operations.
