KENYA – Kenya Wine Agencies Limited (KWAL) has introduced its latest product, Kibao Gin, aiming to tap into Kenya’s rapidly expanding gin market.
The new triple-distilled gin offers a juniper-forward taste and is designed to appeal to young adults who are open to experimenting with different spirits, cocktails, and high-quality alcoholic beverages.
Jonas Geeraerts, KWAL’s commercial director, explained that Kibao Gin is crafted for a bold generation of consumers seeking unique, pronounced flavors.
“Kibao Gin is intended for young, socially connected, and value-driven adults who are adventurous and eager to try new experiences, particularly when socializing,” said Geeraerts.
He added that the gin’s botanical blend and natural, refreshing ingredients make it a versatile option for mixing cocktails.
Kibao Gin also leverages the strong brand recognition of Kibao Vodka, another of KWAL’s popular products.
“Kibao Gin delivers an authentically Kenyan gin experience while maintaining the same trust and consumer loyalty built by Kibao Vodka,” noted Geeraerts.
He expressed optimism that Kibao Gin will eventually become the preferred gin for Kenya’s emerging generation of alcohol consumers.
The launch of Kibao Gin follows a recent legal intervention involving KWAL.
Kenya’s High Court issued an order preventing state agencies from seizing alcoholic products produced by KWAL after the company filed a complaint against the Kenya Bureau of Standards (Kebs).
KWAL stated that since April 2024, its employees and distributors had been threatened with business closures by individuals claiming to be Kebs officers.
KWAL, founded in 1969, is a leading producer of popular alcohol brands in Kenya, including Hunter’s Choice whisky, Kibao Vodka, Kingfisher, Viceroy brandy, and Best Cream liqueur.
The company is renowned for its commitment to producing high-quality beverages that resonate with Kenyan consumers.
