KWAL secures global FSSC 22000 V6, ISO 9001:2015 certifications

KENYA – Kenya Wine Agencies Ltd (KWAL), a subsidiary of Kwal Holdings East Africa Limited (KHEAL), has been awarded the FSSC 22000 V6 and ISO 9001:2015 certifications, solidifying its commitment to global food safety and quality management standards.

The certifications were granted by SGS, the world’s leading inspection, testing, and certification company renowned for its emphasis on sustainability, quality, and integrity.

The FSSC 22000 V6 certification, a globally recognized food safety management system, combines ISO 22000 standards with additional food safety requirements.

It underscores KWAL’s dedication to ensuring top-tier safety practices, robust risk management, and ongoing supply chain improvements.

By securing this certification, KWAL aligns itself with international benchmarks, enhancing trust with consumers and gaining a competitive advantage in the global market.

The ISO 9001:2015 certification, an internationally recognized standard for quality management systems (QMS), focuses on improving customer satisfaction by meeting specific requirements and continuously optimizing processes.

This achievement demonstrates KWAL’s focus on process quality and dedication to delivering customer-centered service.

Additionally, KWAL recently introduced MYHR, a digital platform developed in collaboration with Heineken Beverages.

MYHR connects KWAL employees to Heineken’s global network, offering access to career growth and learning opportunities.

Despite these advancements, KWAL is currently involved in a legal dispute with the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS).

The company filed for relief from alleged unlawful actions by KEBS, citing threats to employees and distributors from individuals claiming to be KEBS officers.

In early September, KEBS officials reportedly seized KWAL products, an action KWAL’s legal team contested as illegal.

The High Court intervened, suspending further seizures and scheduling a follow-up hearing on December 4 to review KEBS’ responses.
