SOUTH AFRICA – French multinational dairy products corporation, Lactalis, has appointed Alban Damour as the new General Manager of Lactalis Southern Africa with effect from 1 December 2021.
Alban will oversee the company’s operations in South Africa, Zambia, Botswana, Eswatini and Mozambique.
The new head has been with the dairy processor since 2003 and worked across the world from France, the USA, Italy and Turkey.
Within the Group he has covered a myriad of roles to include Regional Industrial Director, Industrial and Purchasing Director, VP manufacturing and purchasing and plant manager.
Alban says the local business boasts, “Several fantastic assets, including the people, the brands, and the know-how we have.
“Our ultimate goal is to become the leader in each market dairy category. Diversity, innovation, sustainability, consumers and customer satisfaction will be the keys to unlock and secure our future successes”.
Alban has a Bachelor’s Degree in Total Quality Management, and Master Degree in Biochemistry and Food Engineering.
As part of its executive reshuffling, Lactalis has announced the General Manager of Lactalis South Africa, Marek Warzywoda, will soon take on new challenges within the group.
Just like Alban, Marek has been with the cheese maker for over ten years, holding different capacities from General Manager, Deputy General Manager, Commercial Director in the company’s different offices across the globe.

The Lactalis Group is a family-led company founded in 1933 by André Besnier in Laval in the west of France, the heart of French dairy country.
It is one of the world’s leading dairy groups with 250 production sites in 50 countries and more than 90,000 team members in 94 countries.
In pursuit to provide a conducive work environment, Lactalis SA recently opened its first-ever LactaCafé at the Bonnievale site.
The Bonnievale LactaCafé canteen is an innovative launch project for the rest of LSA and is a dedicated 24/7 food spot where employees have access to tasty, nutritious meals.
The opening will over time be followed by a phased roll-out of LactaCafé venues at other LSA sites.
The LactaCafé initiative is part of LSA’s efforts to ensure that staff members’ employee experience is a positive one of working for a company that values and appreciates them.
