NIGERIA – Cormart Nigeria Limited, a leading producer and distributor of chemical and food raw materials in Nigeria, has partnered with Kerry, to enable the world’s leading manufacturer of food flavours and ingredients to undertake local production in the West African nation.

Both companies have been having a long-standing relationship which has seen Kerry avail its products in the Nigerian market over the years.

The partnership will enable the multinational to be more sensitive and responsive to the local market requirements.

To this end, Nigerian manufacturers will be able to conveniently procure top-quality ingredients from Kerry, have shorter lead times, save shipment time and ultimately reducing cost.

“We are happy that we can bring this partnership to a new level through our new manufacturing contract,” Robin Oort, Sales Director, Kerry Taste and Nutrition, APMEA, said.

The partnership is also in line with Cormart’s commitment of expanding its manufacturing capabilities in the food and beverage sector.

Martin Middernacht, Cormart’s Managing Director, expressed his delight with the new partnership saying, “We are delighted to partner with a world class company that operates at the highest quality standards. It is a great sign for the quality level at which we operate at Cormart.”

Also, the General Manager, Cormart, Dr. Johannes Flosbach, who commented on the economic benefits of the partnership to the manufacturing sector, remarked that it was timely in line with the recently ratified African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

“We will not only produce for Nigeria, but also for neighbouring markets. This project will help Nigeria become a regional manufacturing hub, and our commitment to the Nigerian market is to ensure that we expand our local manufacturing capabilities,” he said.

The project will cover both seasonings for savoury applications and sweet flavours, with focus on customized products.

Last year February, Cormart, partnered with Barry Callebaut, one of the world’s largest cocoa processors and chocolate manufacturers, to support pastry bakers.

The two companies collaborated to provide baking and decoration solutions such as high-quality chocolates as well as a comprehensive training and capacity building programme, taking the pastry and bakery, the horeca and home-cooking industry in Nigeria, to a new level.

Other than Kerry and Barry Callebaut, the manufacturing giant produces and distributes ingredients and tailor-made solutions to the bakery, patisserie & chocolate sectors, in partnership with the Puratos Group and Nutrinova.

The company also collaboratively works with other multinationals including, EFF, Cargill, Sensient, DD Williamson and BASF.
