Lipton enters Kombucha market with new three-flavor range

UK – Lipton tea brand has expanded its portfolio by launching a new Kombucha range, marking its entry into the fast-growing fermented tea segment.

The new lineup features three flavors: Strawberry Mint, Raspberry, and Mango Passionfruit.

The Kombucha market has been experiencing rapid growth, with a 39% increase since the COVID-19 pandemic, now valued at £33 million.

Recognizing this opportunity, Lipton has crafted a drink that blends its signature tea with bubbles and natural fruit flavors, offering a low-sugar, low-calorie alternative to traditional soft drinks.

Ben Parker, VP Sales Off-Trade at Carlsberg Britvic, expressed confidence in Lipton’s ability to introduce more consumers to Kombucha.

“We know how popular the Kombucha trend is and believe Lipton has created a product that can introduce even more people to the category and its benefits. As a brand, we are in a good position to grow an exciting category and we’re really looking forward to shoppers being able to try the flavours and for retailers to reap the current untapped rewards of stocking it,” Parker said.

Lipton Kombucha is available in 250ml single cans and multipacks of four.

To support the launch, the brand has rolled out the ‘Kombucha-cha-cha’ marketing campaign, featuring out-of-home and in-store advertising, social media promotions, and product sampling.

The campaign aims to showcase how Lipton Kombucha delivers a refreshing and flavorful experience, described by the company as “tea that’s bursting with life.”

The launch comes as part of Carlsberg Britvic’s broader expansion strategy.

Lipton is now under the umbrella of Carlsberg Britvic, a newly integrated drinks business formed in January 2025 through the merger of Carlsberg Marston’s Brewing Company (CMBC) and Britvic’s UK operations.

The new entity combines CMBC’s breweries and logistics network with Britvic’s packaging and production expertise.

Carlsberg Britvic manages a diverse beverage portfolio, including Pepsi MAX, 7UP, Tango, Robinsons, J2O, Fruit Shoot, Plenish, and Jimmy’s Iced Coffee.

Last month, the company also introduced two new Pepsi Zero Sugar flavors—Strawberries ‘N’ Cream and Cream Soda—targeting Gen Z consumers with a variety of packaging formats.
