NETHERLANDS – Lipton Teas and Infusions has announced the resignation of its CEO, Nathalie Roos, after two years in the role.
Roos is stepping down “for personal reasons, in agreement with the board,” the Netherlands-based company said in a statement.
Roos joined Lipton Teas and Infusions in 2022 after a five-year stint at L’Oréal.
During her tenure, she spearheaded the relaunch of several key brands, achieving notable success for the tea and herbal drinks business.
Additionally, Roos was instrumental in forming a new global responsible sourcing partnership with tea exporter Brown’s Investments.
Pierre Laubies, the company’s chair, will assume the role of executive chair until a new CEO is appointed.
Laubies expressed gratitude for Roos’ leadership, saying, “Nathalie has set the business on an exciting journey that we continue to follow.”
Roos reflected on her time at Lipton, calling it “enormously rewarding,” and stated her confidence in the company’s future success.
Roos was appointed CEO following the acquisition of Lipton Teas and Infusions by CVC Capital Partners from Unilever.
She said: “I found my time at Lipton Teas and Infusions enormously rewarding. I believe we have created a special company with tremendous potential and I look forward to watching its future success.”
Earlier this year, the company sold its tea estates in Kenya, Rwanda, and Tanzania to Sri Lanka-based Browns Investments. The sale included the Kericho plantation in Kenya, which has been the site of historical violence and human rights concerns.
Lipton, employs approximately 17,000 worldwide, purchased its first tea estate in 1890.
During the past century, the brand has established vertical supply chains in several geographies, managing every aspect of the business from leaf to cup.
Gardens currently account for 15 percent of Lipton’s annual turnover of US$1.9 billion, most of which is generated by its 36 storied brands, including Brooke Bond Red Label, Lipton Yellow Label, PG Tips, Red Rose, and Salada, as well as modern tea brands Laojee (Sri Lanka), T2 (Australia), TAZO (USA) and Pukka (UK).
