CANADA – Maple Leaf Foods Inc. is rolling out a new line of breakfast products aimed at providing consumers with protein-rich and convenient meals to start their day.
The Schneiders Breakfast Sandwiches feature a variety of crafted meats, scrambled eggs, and cheddar cheese, all served on either an English muffin or a croissant.
The sandwiches come in four options: Bacon & Egg Croissant, Bacon & Egg, Sausage & Egg, and Back Bacon & Egg.
The new offerings are available under the Schneiders brand in eight different flavor options.
“Breakfast is essential, yet many Canadians struggle to find time for nutritious meals in the morning,” says Jitendra Sagili, Maple Leaf Foods’ chief innovation and food technology officer.
Sagili notes that the company developed these new products to fill a gap in the market, offering quick, high-protein meals without sacrificing taste, suitable for home or on-the-go consumption.
For a low-carb alternative, the Breakfast Bites offer a protein-focused snack available in four varieties, including a vegetarian option: Bacon & Cheddar, Ham & Swiss, Sausage & Three Cheese, and Spinach, Red Pepper & Parmesan.
This product launch comes as Maple Leaf Foods seeks to enter Canada’s growing protein breakfast market.
In 2024, the Canadian breakfast market is projected to reach US$2.38 billion in revenue, with an annual growth rate of 2.48% expected through 2029.
By 2029, the market’s volume is forecast to reach 0.33 billion kilograms. Breakfast cereals, a key part of this market, are anticipated to see a 0.5% volume increase in 2025.
At the same time, the company is navigating significant structural changes.
Maple Leaf Foods recently appointed Deepak Bhandari as the chief financial officer for its new Pork Complex, a move aligned with the company’s plan to spin off its pork business by 2025.
The newly formed business will focus solely on pork production, while Maple Leaf Foods continues to operate as a separate entity.
The name of the new pork company is expected to be announced in the near future.
Maple Leaf Foods, headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, employs around 13,500 people and conducts operations across Canada, the United States, and Asia.
