SWITZERLAND – Bell Food Group, a leading meat processor and manufacturer of convenience products in Switzerland has announced the appointment of Marco Tschanz as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective from June 1, 2024.
Tschanz, who has been with the company for nine years and serves as the head of the Bell Switzerland business area, will succeed Lorenz Wyss, the current CEO, who will retire on June 30, 2024, after 13 years at the helm.
The decision to appoint Marco Tschanz was made by the company’s Board of Directors, who believe he is the ideal candidate for the position.
Tschanz has played a pivotal role in shaping the Bell Food Group’s successful strategies for nearly a decade, making him well-equipped to lead the company into the future.
Joos Sutter, Chair of the Board of Directors, expressed his confidence in Tschanz, stating that Marco Tschanz has had an impressive track record with the Bell Food Group, both at the operational and strategic levels.
“Under Tschanz’s leadership, the Bell International business area underwent a strategic repositioning that resulted in sustained growth, with the successful launch of the fresh convenience product range in the Austrian market and strategic positioning of Eisberg products in Eastern Europe,” he explained.
According to Sutter, Tschanz’s appointment not only ensures continuity but also lays the foundation for the group’s dynamic development.
In a statement, Tschanz expressed his excitement about leading Bell Food Group, noting that Bell Food Group is a successful company with a strong business model.
“I’m looking forward to continuing to work on our success story, spanning more than 150 years, with the support of a strong team and more than 13,000 committed and competent employees.”
The outgoing CEO, Lorenz Wyss, has overseen significant growth during his 13-year tenure, with sales revenue increasing from CHF 2.5 billion to over CHF 4.3 billion and the workforce more than doubling.
Wyss, who will retire in June 2024, commented on Tschanz’s appointment, appreciating the Board of Directors noting that they made an excellent choice.
“As a member of the management team, Marco Tschanz has played an important part in shaping the company’s strategic focus. He has all the skills needed to successfully advance the Bell Food Group,” he said.
In addition to Marco Tschanz’s appointment, Mike Häfeli will take over as the head of the Eisberg business area on January 1, 2024.
Previously managed by Tschanz, the Eisberg business area will now have Häfeli at the helm.
Häfeli brings with him extensive experience in the food industry, particularly in production processes, market development, and sales.
He has held several managerial positions with the Bühler technology group and most recently headed the Grain Quality & Supply business area as a member of the Executive Management of the Grains & Food division.
