Masterboi expands operations with beef exports to Uruguay

URUGUAY – Masterboi has announced that its Refrigeration and Industrial Unit in Canhotinho, Pernambuco, has received authorization to export beef to Uruguay. 

The company sees this development as a strategic step toward increasing its footprint in the Latin American meat market.

Uruguay, one of the world’s top countries for meat consumption, offers a promising market for Masterboi’s products. 

In 2022, Uruguayans consumed an average of 92.5 kilograms of meat per person. 

Beef accounted for 49% of total meat consumption, reflecting its dominance in the country’s diet. 

While poultry consumption has shown the most significant growth in recent decades, beef remains a staple for Uruguay’s population.

Uruguay’s meat industry is globally recognized for its extensive livestock farming, which benefits from natural grazing conditions on fertile land and a mild climate. 

The cattle raised in the country produce meat with low-fat content and higher levels of healthy fats, such as Omega 3 and unsaturated fatty acids, making it a sought-after commodity in both domestic and international markets.

The country exports 70% of its beef production to over 100 destinations, with key markets in Europe, North America, and Asia. 

However, the domestic market also remains a vital segment for its producers, ranking as the second-largest destination for the meat produced locally.

By gaining export clearance, Masterboi aims to tap into Uruguay’s strong beef consumption culture and the opportunities in its domestic and export-oriented meat industry. 

The company has a significant global reach, exporting to over 110 destinations and focusing on delivering high-quality products worldwide.

This latest development shows Uruguay’s growing appeal as a meat export destination and its established reputation as a major player in the global beef market.
