NETHERLANDS – Meatable, a pioneering Dutch food-tech company specializing in cultivated meat, is making headlines by hosting the EU’s inaugural legally approved tasting event for cultivated meat.

This milestone event, held at Meatable’s headquarters in Leiden, the Netherlands, signals a significant advancement in the journey towards the commercialization of cultivated meat.

Krijn de Nood, the visionary founder and CEO of Meatable, expressed immense pride in achieving this historic feat.

We are incredibly proud to host the first official cultivated meat tasting in the EU, marking a landmark moment for Meatable and our industry,” stated de Nood.

He went to emphasize the company’s relentless efforts over the past five years to develop a delectable product that mirrors the taste, texture, and flavor profile of conventionally farmed meat.

The tasting event received the green light from an independent expert committee sanctioned by the Dutch government.

Approval was granted based on Meatable’s comprehensive dossier, which meticulously outlined the product safety data of its cultivated meat.

De Nood extended gratitude to the event’s attendees for their support and contributions to Meatable’s mission of providing sustainable meat alternatives that satisfy global appetites without compromising on quality or environmental ethics.

The Netherlands, serving as a trailblazer in cultivated meat innovation, becomes the first EU country to permit such tastings.

Notable attendees at the event included Dutch Prince Constantijn van Oranje, Michelin-starred chef Ron Blaauw, and entrepreneur Ira van Eelen, daughter of cultivated meat technology pioneer Willem van Eelen.

Prince van Oranje commended Meatable’s efforts, acknowledging the company’s potential to mitigate the food industry’s environmental impact.

Meatable cultivates meat using their proprietary Opti-OX technology, technology capable of transforming a single pig cell into a cultivated sausage in just four days, showcases the company’s commitment to innovation.

Looking ahead, Meatable plans to introduce its products in Singapore, following regulatory approval from the Singapore Food Agency.
