UAE – Midtown Factory, a leading beverage production facility at Dubai Industrial City, has launched the “Majlis Premium Arabian Ale,” the world’s first fully halal-brewed range of beverages.
The new product is crafted using a proprietary brewing technique that ensures the process remains alcohol-free from start to finish, distinguishing it from traditional methods that involve alcohol removal.
According to the company, the beverage contains high-quality ingredients, including malted barley from Austria and Germany, and hops sourced from the European Union, the United States, and Australia.
However, the yeast used in the fermentation process is entirely non-alcoholic, ensuring compliance with halal guidelines.
“We are so excited to introduce a beverage that caters to the evolving preferences of the global community seeking a refined, alcohol-free, and healthy alternative,” said Igor Sergunin, CEO of Midtown Factory and innovator of Majlis Premium Arabian Ale.
“Dubai is the perfect launchpad for innovations, as it is a hub of modern trade, peaceful lifestyle, and a global center for halal products.”
The company has received halal certification from UAE authorities after undergoing rigorous testing, reinforcing its commitment to producing beverages that align with Islamic dietary laws.
Majlis Premium Arabian Ale is available in multiple flavors, offering consumers a sophisticated and refreshing drinking experience.
The product is currently available in select retail stores, hotels, and restaurants across Dubai, with plans for regional and international expansion in the near future.
The brand name, Majlis, reflects the concept of social gatherings rather than partying. “Majlis means ‘gathering.’ It’s about coming together and enjoying our halal-brewed drinks,” Sergunin explained.
The introduction of Majlis Premium Arabian Ale comes at a time when Dubai is witnessing shifts in alcohol regulations.
Alcohol consumption was permitted without restrictions in the UAE until 1979, when regulations were introduced to uphold religious standards. Over the years, these restrictions have gradually eased, particularly in Dubai, as part of efforts to boost tourism and economic growth.
Until recently, all alcohol in the UAE was imported, and local production was prohibited.
However, in 2021, Abu Dhabi introduced regulatory changes allowing licensed businesses to manufacture alcohol on-site. This has paved the way for the development of a local brewing industry.
In December 2023, Craft by Side Hustle became the UAE’s first brewery, and earlier this year, Falcon Brews announced plans to establish a brewery and spirits bottling plant in Ras Al Khaimah by 2026.
Additionally, in November 2024, Heineken partnered with Dubai-based Maritime and Mercantile International to launch the Gulf’s first large-scale brewery, Sirocco, set for construction in late 2025 and completion by 2027.
