BRAZIL – Minerva Foods, one of South America’s leading beef exporters, has announced that the company’s facility in Rolim de Moura, Rondônia, has secured approval to export beef to the United States.
This achievement brings the total number of Minerva Foods’ Brazilian units authorized to export to the U.S. to 14, further enhancing its international reach and export potential.
This caps off a really good year for the company.
In October, the company completed a major acquisition of Marfrig Global Foods’ assets in Brazil after receiving approval from the Brazilian antitrust authority (CADE).
The US$1.3 billion deal involves 13 cattle and sheep slaughtering and processing plants, along with a distribution center.
This acquisition allows Minerva Foods to process up to 22,336 cattle daily across 21 facilities in Brazil.
As part of the same agreement, Minerva Foods is integrating additional facilities in Argentina and Chile.
The company will now operate six plants in Argentina, capable of processing 5,978 cattle daily, and a lamb processing facility that handles 25,716 animals per day across five locations in Australia and Chile.
These expansions aim to cater to markets across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
Minerva also remains the largest supplier of beef to China, with the most export-authorized plants for that market.
In addition to its business expansions, Minerva Foods has strengthened its commitment to animal welfare.
The company joined the Brazilian Animal Welfare Collaboration (COBEA), a coalition of seven major animal protein producers working to improve industry practices.
In recent months, Minerva Foods organized specialized training sessions on animal welfare for 162 participants, including employees and outsourced workers in Mato Grosso.
The company has also expanded its welfare programs to nine partner farms, focusing on improving standards for farm workers.
Founded in 1924 and headquartered in Barretos, São Paulo, Minerva Foods is a key player in the global meat industry, engaged in beef production, leather and by-product processing, and live cattle exports.
