Mondelez appoints Norberto Chaclin as Executive Vice President

USA – Mondelez International, Inc., an American multinational confectionery, food, and beverage company, has appointed Norberto Chaclin as Executive Vice President (EVP) and Chief Research and Development (R&D) Officer.

Reporting directly to the chair and CEO Dirk Van de Put, Chaclin will oversee the company’s global R&D and quality strategy, driving innovation and supporting Mondelez’s vision to shape the future of snacking.

He joined the company in 2018 and previously served as Senior Vice President (SVP) of R&D for global biscuits and as regional R&D partner for North America.

In these roles, he led innovations for brands such as Oreo, Chips Ahoy, Ritz, BelVita and Clif Bar. He has also led R&D for Mondelez’s global gum and candy business.

Chaclin said, “I’m honored to assume leadership of the outstanding Mondelez R&D team and look forward to advancing our technical capabilities, accelerating our competitive advantage, and, most importantly, creating delicious new snacks for our consumers and customers.”

Before joining Mondelez, Chaclin spent 18 years at PepsiCo, holding various leadership positions, including leading R&D for PepsiCo North America Beverages and the Pepsi/Starbucks joint venture.

Van de Put expressed his confidence in Norbto’s leadership abilities, highlighting his proven track record of innovation, dedication to meeting consumers’ snacking needs, and commitment to mentoring the next generation of R&D talent.

He believes that Norbto will effectively lead the worldwide R&D organisation, enhance its partnership with commercial businesses, focus on consumer-centric growth, and boost productivity.

In addition to the new EVP, the company appointed Filippo Catalano as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO).

Catalano has extensive experience, spanning more than two decades, in forming and implementing digital technologies as part of various businesses’ overall business strategies, especially in the food and beverage sector.

The new CIO’s experience includes a 15-year stint at the consulting firm Proctor & Gamble, where he was crucial in providing digitisation consultancy services for various businesses across different industries.

The new CIO said, “I am very excited to join Mondelēz International and help the company drive industry-leading technology solutions that grow competitive advantage while helping better connect customers and consumers with the snacking brands they love.”

His primary role as CIO will be to develop and oversee the implementation of technologies throughout the confectionary giant’s production line and point of contact with customers.
